Did Minnesota Really End Veteran Homelessness?

Minnesota says it has effectively ended veteran homelessness. What does that actually mean—and what should veterans and taxpayers be asking next? Richard and Jason kick off this episode of The Regular Guy Podcast with a blunt conversation about “effective zero,” housing results, public spending, and political victory laps. If veterans are getting lasting help, give the people doing the work their credit. But asking how success is measured shouldn’t be controversial. Then we get into political loyalty, Minnesota leadership, Trump, and what happens when defending your party becomes more important than asking questions. Somewhere along the way, we also remember that being a decent neighbor still matters. And because this is our show, things eventually go sideways. Jason joins Facebook for the FIRST time. We talk about using AI to turn ideas into actual plans, Richard explains his old bounty-hunting job, and we take a convoy down memory lane—from body armor pranks and deployment culture shock to ammo headaches and military stories you couldn’t make up. Serious questions. Some self-inflicted nonsense. Two veterans having the conversation. JOIN THE CONVERSATION: What would you need to see before calling the effort to end veteran homelessness a success? Housing placements? Wait times? Long-term stability? Let us know below. Federal criteria address identifying veterans, immediate shelter access, rapid access to permanent housing, and the capacity to respond to new cases. The state’s announcement identifies Minnesota as the fifth state to reach this milestone. This episode includes political opinions, speculation, personal recollections, strong language, and adult humor. #RegularGuyNation #RegularGuyPodcast #VeteranHomelessness
